Structure of the study program |
Curriculum 2021/22 onwards - Doctoral academic studies | |||||||||
In order to develop the scientific field of physical education and sport, to improve scientific research and professional work and training for conducting independent scientific research, the Faculty organizes doctoral studies of the Physical Education and Sport. Upon completion of their studies, students are trained to conduct scientific research and to independently perform scientific work. Thus, they acquire the professional scientific title of Doctor of Science in Physical Education and Sport. General enrolment conditions are prescribed by the Law on Higher Education and the Statute of the Faculty. Detailed conditions, enrolment, organization, and the procedure of preparation, evaluation and defending of the doctoral dissertation are regulated by the Faculty Rulebook on Doctoral Studies. The study program corresponds to a workload of 180 ECTS. It lasts for six semesters. The first year of study is joint, and in the second year, the program is realized in two modules: Module of Fundamental Research in Physical Education and Sport and Module of Applied Research in Physical Education and Sport. The program consists of compulsory and elective courses, independent research work and the preparation of a doctoral dissertation. The student workload is expressed through the number of ECTS and is evenly distributed throughout the semesters. In the first year, students attend and take an exams in three compulsory and one elective methodological course. Within the module, during each semester of the second year, students attend and take exams in two elective courses and in Lab Research Work. The details of the courses and their general contents are provided on the Faculty's website. The courses have prescribed pre-examination obligations and the manner of taking the exams. Lab Research Work, Writing a research paper and Doctoral dissertation are planned to take place in the third year of studying (30 ECTS). There are no special conditions for course enrolment. A student can acquire some ECTS from the study program of the same or another university. The student who has completed a master's degree in academic studies (300 ECTS) at another faculty with an average grade of at least 8 can also attend the studies. If a candidate from another faculty does not have the necessary prior knowledge to attend the study program of doctoral studies, she/he should take additional exams in courses of basic or master academic studies. The Council of Doctoral Studies is a competent body in regards to the study program.
